Single Serve

I sure wish there were a grocer within walking distance of my house. I'd want for it to be Trader Joe's or Central Market or even a Coop. It would be great. I'd be able to gather what I needed for a few days and live like I were in New York City. New York City?!!?!

Single serve coffee and tea packets are usually what I choose to use for a hot beverages. Single serve other items are hard to keep in bulk unless it is processed or highly processed. I have stopped purchasing bulk items having to do with food. I still will purchase 120 rolls of toilet paper and 50 rolls of hand towels and 12 toothbrushes and 6 deodorants. But that is neither here nor there.

I would like to enter a bodega and gather a bunch of grapes and an avocado off the store front rack and not pay an arm and a leg. Maybe I would grab one banana. Later that day I would get an 8th a pound of turkey sliced thin and the same of Swiss. I would get a sprig of romaine and an itty bit of fresh herbs. I'd smile as I'd walk pass my neighborhood store and be glad it was there.

    Funny, the things we wish for. The necessities, conveniences, treats, extravagances, indulgences. How they change with time.

      And then I saw the story on PBS about the people in Mozambique being displace because of attacks and killings in the North... and sat down somewhere...

Forget that STAR method

Reflecting on the STAR interview method. I can honestly say that this method sucks. I try to move on with my life and not dwell on the good, the bad or the ugly of it all. I aspire to not keep a record of wrong. I want to improve and get better by building on better foundations, but I don't like having to recall all the drama of engaging with white people along the way. All my jobs have been run and operated by white people. Only my time as a student at the HBCU was I under the leadership of Black folks. This makes a difference for me in these assessments. I can remember nothing but people who had my best interest at heart and the HBCU. They were encouraging and forgiving and looking out for a person. Window Panes

My cousin told me that she can feel the brisk chill of the outside cold when she passes by her window. Growing up I could feel the cold as well piercing though the window pane. Walking by one left no other option some winters than to grab your shoulders cross armed and go, "burrrr." Time brings about a change and now in my home of seven year I have R-valued window panes. Double insulated windows that are a barrier to the cold chill just on the other side. Do I miss greeting Mother nature's cold chilly tap on my should as I glide by my windows? I can honestly say that I do not even think about it. Perhaps I shall next winter pull beside her with a hot cup of tea and we shall fellowship like we do in the Spring or Fall. My cousin is in a townhouse in Carrollton and is a renter. She rents for various reason, but she is about to embark on home ownership soon. She hopes to sign the papers in April. My doctor informed me that my recent weight gain is most likely age related.  From medlineplus.gov: Menopause   is the time in a woman's life when her period stops. It usually occurs naturally, most often after age 45.   Menopause   happens because the woman's ovaries stop producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone. A woman has reached   menopause   when she has not had a period for one year. Between September and November 2020 I went from 146 to 172. I was unnerved. 158 was about as heavy as I've even been. I thought if I cut out some recent medications I was taking, I could alter the trajectory of the extra pounds.  Increasing my exercising and attentively adjusting my diet has not yielded the results I wanted either.  I will still cut down the meds and eventually remove the medicine from my routine since the nation has settled into calm and I don't think I need anti-depressants any longer.
