Lucy Goosey At The Park (Children’s Story to be illustrated) 1.4.2018

Lucy Goosey wobbled a lot
Lucy Goosey flipped and she flopped
Whenever Lucy went to the park
She’d find herself caught all in the tree bark

Or inside a tubed slide stuck on both sides
Or under a bar too low to abide
Or merry go rounding and tumbling downing
On one see-saw high up where hers is agrounding

Or monkeying bars where her arms went but so far
And the hobby horse tossed her in ways so bizarre
Lucy seemed determined to swing on the swings
To glide on the glider and handle the rings

She did her best “best” and all things she did test
Until night fell and she finally needed to rest
With a day full of play that went all the day long

Lucy Wobbled back home with a smile and a song

... One is silver and the other's gold. I learned this song when I was around 9 or 10 years old. Throughout the decades, friends have come and gone. These friends were all ages from 3 years old to 108. Some friends I have lost through death... I cherish those 9 years of sharing life with my 108 year old friend. She passed a little over 3 years ago. What a go getter she was. She gave up driving at 99 when she had a close call leaving the Dairy Queen parking lot. She moved to my hometown to be close to her daughters a month shy of 100. She didn't start using a walker until 103. I made friends with a three year old as she read the New York Times while on her knees on her family's couch. Buzzards and Ants

As I returned from my morning walk, I see in the middle of the one way three lane road next to my house a recently deceased by way of tire... squirrel. In the past, kind street walkers have bestowed on me the honor of disposing of dead squirrels hit by vehicles with tossing the road kill into my yard. Not on the easement, but into my yard. So, it was surprising to see that two large buzzards were on my sidewalk when I peeked back outside after a bit that day. Then it dawned on me... they have the squirrel. And indeed they retrieved the squirrel from the road and sat under the shade of the pecan trees that line my easement and dined greatly in the cool of the day. They chose the sidewalk for their meal. They took turns pecking away at the slowly dwindling carcass as I hopped into my car to run an errand. When returning from my short trip, the buzzards were nowhere to be found.
