Shirts or Skins

Shirts or skins - Where do I begin you got Clavin - I got Ben Going back to 9 or is it 10 years old flat chested games I'm in No one told me not to Forget that fact that I thought I ought to Rough and tumble pitch and toss Drawing up plays like I'm a boss Never thought a girl would make 'em flinch them boys on my team dipped and slipped Oops didn't mean your embarrassment but I did; can't lie,- I did; I did Turning tides to the round ball didn't miss a beat Tomboys are always on the street Those were the days I can't deny Free and frank and bold was I I always got picked for the teams make a free throw and you the queen You got Calvin - I got Ben then came the time to win again Those were the days I can't deny Skins or Shirts and free was I

It's The Stuff That Comes Naturally Poem Written 2007

It's the stuff that comes naturally actually that keeps me stronger I'm no longer looking over my shoulder I'm getting bolder knowing that my God is keeping me keeping me going And that the Holy Spirit it is leading me and leading onward forward to the mighty river of knowing forging pillars to the left and right of me He keeps showing it's like I'm growing standing firm like brother Hercules even though they blinded me My feet are wounded but they carry still a might calling that's the Father's will And though I stumble and I fall a lot it is the very fact that I can call the shot and know that God the Lord he said would not leave me forsaking me's not in His plan you see I know a mountain is just up in the distance trying to discourage you from your ultimate mission move a little further up the line cause it's all gonna come together in time all things work together for those called those who love the Lord shall not fall it is for His good purpos...

Unmoved

Got a shovel I've been digging Don't know what exactly I'm suppose to bury On the ledge legs a swinging whi-st-ling a tune that found me lit'l unaware Chambers fill-in' up real fast now hard to catch ya breath when water's everywhere Unmoved which way is there to travel Unbothered floundering lost sight of all the sea Unmoved when that gust of wind gone take me take me to another place away from here

I've Changed My Mind

Written around 2007 Never Published* I've changed my mind about living life to the fullest about dire straits and gasoline cost and being the coolest about cheesecake for breakfast and marriage and bling about leaving tips and one-horse towns and circus rings I've change my mind about politics, Mickey Mouse and Earl Grey Tea about what goes up must come down and you getting the best of me I've changed my mind about crapes and lemons and eagle's rights McCain and Obama and about leaving the lights on during the night about higher education and college fees about getting rid of all those ticks and momma's backyard fleas about driving cross country and catching the game about seeing my old high school sweetheart and reigniting the flame I've changed my mind about war crimes and poverty about breast-feeding and comfortable shoes and equality dogs looking like their owners and underground tunnels built in Manhattan people who find themselves loners, and about General...

The Evening Pause

Under the cover of darkness waves of lush gale winds softly graze my skin the night is apt to give warm hugs for long seconds while I drape myself across the porch swing the dampness in the air does not distract the lightning bugs flash on and off and on and off I am tempted to gather them in jars as we once scurried to do as children Its nice No one is moving about the city streets no random kitties or pups running stray the lights in the sky are as glints in bright eyes of babes Drawn to a long yawn and a curling of the neck and the stretching of the legs fresh rains have cleared and cleansed all places fresh mowed grass fills the evening air the rains and showers will come again soon peace is abounding

I Do Not Want To Write Today

Oh Dear! I do not want to write today. What's that you say? Not Write TODAY? That's right. I said, "I do not want to write today." But you must! Why must I? You must!!! Well, now that you put it like that!!! I guess I must. Trust you must!!! Trust? Yes, Trust! I'd rather fuss! If you must! I will write. Now there! Is this enough!!! Well, maybe! I guess. So there!

Stories to Finish While Stories are Written

There are all sorts of stories unfolding right now. I have written a few in the past and will write some more in the future, Lord willing. At present this is a story unfolding right before my very eyes. I have yet to go back and fully edit all these posts on this blog or on any of my other blogs. "I am writing," I tell myself; "I am not editing." Be that as it may I think even as we are living we don't get all the editing done. We don't get all the writing done. We try to scratch things out and add things in to our days. We correct ourselves or others or our spaces or other people's spaces. It is the never ending story and the never ending editing and abridging of it all. The adding of footnotes and references and amendments and annotations continue on. As we move along life's journey, I encourage folks to write their stories. Who else is going to tell them the way you see it. Write the best you can. Offer what ever it is that is to be offered. Is is...

Live Love Be

Silence. Silence. Silence. Golden. Golden. Golden. Wait. Wait. Wait. Be. Lifted. Be Lifted. Be Lifted. Quiet. Quiet. Quiet. Peaceful. Peaceful. Peaceful. Rest. Rest. Rest. Know. Know. Know. Receive. Receive. Receive. Thankful. Thankful. Thankful. Grateful. Grateful. Grateful. Mercy. Mercy. Mercy. Grace. Grace. Grace. Live. Love. Be.

Day Off and It Should Rain

It is raining and I am loving it. Thank you, rain. Thank you for every drop. We have been in a drought here and I am grateful for the rain. Every drop. In fact I am of the opinion that it should rain for the next forty days. It should rain like the rain is suppose to be here forever and ever.  It should rain as if the ground were dying of thirst. I am dying from thirst. It should rain all day and all night. I would like that. I remember one Summer in the early 2000's (2007) where it rained almost the entire Summer.  I stayed on a 10 hour alert to find a break in the rain just to get out and mow the lawn. That was a good year for an introvert. It should rain so that no one can say that it never rains here. It should rain to shut the mouths of those who think that rain is a waste of time. It should rain to make them think twice about having the name rain in they mouth. It should rain so I can be inspired to put on rain boots and stomp around. It should rain so I can collect a ba...

mold and shape me

mold and shape me for productiveness and assure me that all is well in this I can be glad though grieved by trials I am glad bring on the day yielded and waiting go on by for control is not in the effort but follows the faith it is not mine bring on the light of the day I can stand I can wait There is nothing to this vapor of life otherwise it is joy unspeakable to search out what is to be found attentive to the sight and sound bound until loosed to fly instructed and guided am I

Cause and Effect

All around me lives effect not always knowing what the cause all the around me is the cause not always knowing what the effect So glad that there are those settled enough in spirit and in themselves to push the envelop I worry much and quicksand seems to bind my feet, and voice and life Am I that sensitive seems to be the case far be it for me to say my weakness is my strength Like gases light and hardly undetected but yet here I fear to poison slowing my own livingness must sabotage always call for favors from unwitting partnerships who is to say that this is not the tapestry of fate meandering words, sidewinding thoughts, lazy as calm rivers carving out spaces still unrelenting will forward, forward needlessly professing it is just as obvious that backward's trick is this it is yet forward nonetheless call those to stand and be not moveable not pushed off the mark of righteousness the ground is firm and true the ground is firm and true

Eyelids Close For A While

Clear waters and uncluttered shores where you can see your reflection and the floor of the inlet. Every foot print like brand new baby's breath as you move toward the endlessness of journeys undertook. Clear blue skies embrace the edges of your sight enveloping your gaze without the threat of blinding. Laps of waves caress the shore and claps against the peer. Tiny movements and gestures ungulate in grains of sand and who knows what inhabits there. Cool vespers flow across your shoulders and the warmth of the air and fluidity of the sand between your toes remind you of nothingness and everything all at once. Deep breath draws in more than it has ever done in a long long while. The exhale renders a smile. Eyelids close for a while.

In and Out Of Space

In and out of spaces time and places moving fast yet still complacent not a spark or motivation letting iterations vacate vasillation in a state of perplexed thought pressed on all sides broken caught sowed up throwed up making fodder completely wanting to be bothered undefined by expectations trapped up in all this shi!ty waiting could be moving but toward what do I even give a F@C%! (Not my usual flair- but oh Well! It is what it is)

Remember That Time

Taking this free one day online class with UCLA, the instructor's prompt in writing poetry  from memories was:       I Remember Here is my version from childhood- I remember now-or-laters in the Summer when momma would give us a nickel to go to the store I remember popping wheelies and makeshift ramps I remember building go-carts and stilts I remember going behind bushes, up trees, and into thickets I remember laying down in the bed of the orange Ford Truck around dark staring at the sky I remember pulling the tail off a lizard with my brother I remember snails, lighting bugs and red ants I remember the sounds that came from my mother's tummy when I laid upon her lap I remember asking my mother lots of questions I remember not liking her to ask me a lot of questions I remember telling her, "why are you asking me? Zippers Are Nifty

Zippers are nifty. They go up and down. So does the Yo-Yo, but it can go round and round. X-Rays see through you to see what's inside. Winds are much fun when kites in them glide. Volcanoes erupt and lava ooze to the ground. Umbrellas go up when the rain falls down. Turkeys run fast to avoid those big nets. Strawberries and whip cream is always the best. Rabbits sniff carrots from far far away. Quails scatter quickly when dogs are astray. Picnics can happen both day and night. Octopus swim swiftly when avoiding a fight. Needles do mend and needles can burst. Milk can be good to satisfy thirst. Ladders are used to climb very high. Kittens purr softly when they are near by. Jungle gyms full of children at play. Iguanas stay warm in the green leaves all day. Hound dog opens one eye to see who is there. Gophers dart under ground where they have not a care. Flutes ring out in song as dancers go round. Eagles perch high above without nary a sound. Dandelions in hand get blown in the air...

Just Passing Thru

Realism, pragmatism, fatalism, nihilism, optimism, any-ism, other-ism, feminism, color-ism, imagism, nepotism, all the isms framed in time and space.  Because? Smidgens, dashes, smatterings, itsys, tinys, teenies, oopies, bitsies, whoopsies, littles and barely's show their faces in the most auspicious cases.  And? Almost, nearly, so-close, really, dang it, oh dear, roughly, practically, round-a-bout, nigh, all gather to witness perfection has died. So? Vanished, gone, disappeared, dissolved, swallowed up, burned out, defunct, extinct, lost, terminated, faded, evaporated, dead can all find the middle part of journey false. Why?
